Prompt Magic: Email Response

There is arguably no component of the work of a college counselor that is less exhilarating, rejuvenating, or otherwise rewarding than responding to emails. As such, this week’s prompt is as follows:

Write a draft of an email to parents of high school seniors to invite them to a college counseling event.

The basic premise that I find myself reminding would-be prompters of again and again is “garbage in, garbage out.” Conversely, the higher quality the input, the higher the quality of the output. So, while this prompt could get lucky and produce something that works for you, it is much more likely that this one will strike gold:

Write a draft of an email to parents of high school seniors to invite them to a college counseling event. The event is [event]. The date is [date]. The time is [time]. The anticipated length of the event is [length]. The venue is [venue]. The program is intended for [ideal attendee]. The goal of the program is [goal]. To be best prepared, an attendee should [ideal preparation].

[event] = G12 College Night
[date] = Wednesday, August 9, 2023
[time] = 7:00 PM
[length] = 1 hour
[venue] = Black Box Theater
[ideal attendee] = all grade 12 students and parents
[goal] = To prepare students and parents for the coming application process and academic year
[ideal preparation] = Check Cialfo to ensure that all tasks were completed from the end of the G11 year.

If you tinker with your inputs in the second half of the prompt, you will find that the better the content, the better the output. Take a look! Toy away!
